وَأَتُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِنْ أَبْوَابِهَا
“And go into the houses by their doors…”1
فَإِذَا دَخَلْتُمْ بُيُوتًا فَسَلِّمُوا
“So when you enter houses, greet…”2

Surah Nisa revealed in summer.
11. Saying that a dead are punished due to weeping of survivors; as if he had
not read the verse:
وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَى
“And no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another.”3
12. His deviated opinion regarding divorce [that three divorces in one sitting
are allowed] due to lack of understanding the verse:
الطَّلَاقُ مَرَّتَنِ
“Divorce may be (pronounced) twice…”4
13. His forbidding Hajj-e-Tamatto, after reciting the verse:

Making unlawful Fixed-time marriage (Mutah) due to ignorance of
Allah’s statement:
فَمَا اسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِهِ مِنْهُنَّ فَأَتَوْهُنَّ أَجُورَهُنَّ
“Then as to those whom you profit by, give them their dowries.”6
You will find details of these instances in discussion about academic
masterpieces of Umar in this book and there are a large number of subjects of
Quran, which he did not know and you will find some of them through this book.
Now, whether logic permits that someone, who has the best recitation and is
most knowledgeable and wisest of people, he should be so ignorant about Holy
Quran and its objectives?
If he was as they claim, then what is the meaning of his statement in a sermon, which is narrated through authentic chains of narrators, all of whose
narrators are trustworthy?
“Those, who want to ask about Holy Quran should approach Ubayy bin
Kaab; those who want to inquire about lawful and unlawful, should approach
Maaz bin Jabal; and those, who want to learn about shares of inheritance, should
contact Zaid bin Thabit.”7
